Mein Bereich
To access, click Mein Bereich in the menu.
MetaLib enables you to personalize your environment, to create your own database lists, save records that you find interesting for future reference, and define your preferences for the display of results.

Meine Suchergebnisse
To access, click Mein Bereich in the menu and then Meine Suchergebnisse.
MetaLib allows authenticated users to keep selected records in their personal Meine Suchergebnisse for future use.
Records are added to the basket, which is the default Meine Suchergebnisse folder, by clicking the basket
function in a results list. You can also create new folders, name them and move records into them from your basket or from another folder.
Meine Suchergebnisse records can be displayed in three views: Kurztitelliste, Kurzanzeige and Vollanzeige.
The Meine Suchergebnisse display can include one or two panes.
In the two-pane Advanced view, you can move records from My Basket to an eShelf folder by selecting the records and clicking the arrow icon located at the top of the pane.

To copy records from one folder to another
MetaLib allows authenticated users to keep selected records in their personal Meine Suchergebnisse for future use.
Records are added to the basket, which is the default Meine Suchergebnisse folder, by clicking the basket

Meine Suchergebnisse records can be displayed in three views: Kurztitelliste, Kurzanzeige and Vollanzeige.
The Meine Suchergebnisse display can include one or two panes.
- The single pane view enables you to see the list of records in the selected folder.
- The double pane view enables you to move records from the basket to other folders and vice versa.
In the two-pane Advanced view, you can move records from My Basket to an eShelf folder by selecting the records and clicking the arrow icon located at the top of the pane.

Meine Suchergebnisse Folder Kurztitelliste
Kurztitelliste displays the records in a table, one row for each record, within the Simple pane. Kurztitelliste provides the following options:
- Select a folder in the Select folder field to view the contents of another folder.
- Click the Title to see the record's Vollanzeige.
- Click the database name to go to the database's Web site. Where possible, the same record is displayed in the database's native interface.
- Click
, to use SFX which provides access to a range of relevant electronic resources, such as the full text of articles or holdings information in your library's OPAC.
- Click
to remove a record from your basket or from the selected folder.
- Select the checkbox of a record or select all the records by clicking Select all. You can then perform group functions on the selected records by clicking the Selected option on the top and bottom tool bars.
A popup window displays in which you can then click on the Send or Save buttons. Click Cancel to close the popup. You can deselect all the selected records by clicking Clear all.
Use the following options, as required:

Meine Suchergebnisse Folder Kurzanzeige
Kurzanzeige provides citation information, in addition to the information provided in the Kurztitelliste, within the Simple pane. Kurzanzeige provides the following options:
- Select a folder in the Select folder field to view the contents of another folder.
- Click a Title to see the Vollanzeige of the record.
- Click the database name to link to the database's Web site. Where possible, the same record is displayed in the database's native interface.
- Click
, to use SFX , which provides access to a range of relevant electronic resources, such as the full text of articles or holdings information in your library's OPAC.
- Click
to remove this record from your basket or the selected folder.

Meine Suchergebnisse Folder Vollanzeige
Vollanzeige provides all the record's information, within the Simple pane. It shows a page for each record and highlights the words you queried.
- Select a folder in the Select folder field to view the contents of another folder.
- Click
, to use SFX which provides access to a range of relevant electronic resources, such as the full text of articles or holdings information in your library's OPAC.
- Click
, to save the results to a file on your PC. A window is displayed in which you can select the format and encoding of the file to be saved.
From the Record Format field, select one of the following:- Standard: Saves the file as a standard text file in a format similar to that displayed.
- MARC1 format: Saves the file with MARC21 cataloging tags.
- Citation manager: Saves the file in the format of the ISI Citation Manager that is installed on your computer: EndNote, ProCite or ReferenceManager.
From the Encoding field, select one of the following:- UTF-8
- ISO 8859-1
- ASCII
- Click
, to email the record. A window is displayed in which you can enter the details of the file to be sent.
From the Record Format field, select one of the following:- Standard: Saves the file as a standard text file in a format similar to that displayed.
- MARC1 format: Saves the file with MARC21 cataloging tags.
From the Encoding field, select one of the following:- UTF-8
- ISO 8859-1
- ASCII
- Click
, to link to the full text bypassing the SFX menu. This option only appears when available.
- Click
to remove this record from your basket or the selected folder.
- Click
to erase all the content of the folder.

The Basket and Other eShelf Folders
The basket is an Meine Suchergebnisse folder, which you can use as your only folder. In addition, you have the option to open other folders in your Meine Suchergebnisse, assign names to them, and copy records from your basket to those folders.
The basket function
appears per record in the various result lists. The basket is retained from session to session for authenticated users, but if you choose to work as a guest, your basket is deleted when the session ends.

To save the basket as a new folder:
There are two ways to create a new folder:
and enter a name for the new folder.
To create a new folder, move to the Advanced mode by clicking the Advanced option at the top right hand corner, click
and enter a folder name.
Note that in order to move records from one folder to another you need to copy them from the first folder to the basket and then copy them from the basket to the second folder.
- You can save the contents of the entire basket as a new folder
- You can create a new folder and copy selected records from the basket to this folder

To create a new folder, move to the Advanced mode by clicking the Advanced option at the top right hand corner, click

Note that in order to move records from one folder to another you need to copy them from the first folder to the basket and then copy them from the basket to the second folder.

To copy records from the basket to another folder:
- In eShelf, move to the Advanced mode by clicking the Advanced option in the top right hand corner. Your basket will appear in the right pane.
- Select a folder in the Select folder field or create a new folder by using the
icon.
- The basket appears on the right and the folder that you created or selected appears on the left.
- Select records in the basket to be copied by clicking on the checkbox to the left of each record or by clicking the Select all option at the top left of the list to select the entire list. Click Clear all to deselect all the selected items.


You can also use this option, if you wish, to move records from one folder to another by using the basket as temporary storage.
Note that in order to move records from one folder to another you need to copy them from the first folder to the basket and then copy them from the basket to the second folder.

Meine Datenquellen
Access to Mein Bereich is restricted to logged in users.
To access, click Mein Bereich in the menu and then Meine Datenquellen. MetaLib allows authenticated users to create lists of selected databases (sets), assign them a name, and use them in Schnellsuche and Suche.
Datenquellen A-Z enables you to locate a specific database from those made available by the institution. You can add databases to a database clipboard by clicking
in the Datenquellen A-Z results list.
Once you click the
, it changes to
. You can also add databases from the Suche database list in the same way.
In Meine Datenquellen you can also copy these databases from the database clipboard to one or more database lists which can later be selected during a search.
You can define the order in which these sets appear on the page, as follows:

To access, click Mein Bereich in the menu and then Meine Datenquellen. MetaLib allows authenticated users to create lists of selected databases (sets), assign them a name, and use them in Schnellsuche and Suche.
Datenquellen A-Z enables you to locate a specific database from those made available by the institution. You can add databases to a database clipboard by clicking



In Meine Datenquellen you can also copy these databases from the database clipboard to one or more database lists which can later be selected during a search.
You can define the order in which these sets appear on the page, as follows:
- Click the
icon to the right of the Select set dropdown list. The Order sets popup window is displayed, displaying the current order of the sets.
- Click the up arrow
to move a selected set up in this list. This means that it will appear more to the top, left in the Schnellsuche page.
- Click the down arrow
to move a selected set down in this list. This means that it will appear more to the bottom, right in the Schnellsuche page.
- To alphabetize the list, click
.
- To save this sort, click Save.
- To revert to the previous display order, click Cancel.

How to Create a Database Set?
- To create a Database Set, you must first select one or more databases using the
icon, which copies the selected database to the Clipboard.
- There are two ways to create a new set:
- Save all the selected databases in the clipboard by clicking on the
icon, which will open a new folder and prompt you for a folder name.
- Alternatively, in Mein Bereich->Meine Datenquellen, click
to create a new folder. Enter a name for the new folder and optionally add a short description.
The database clipboard appears on the right pane and the folder that you just created appears on the left pane.
You can now copy databases from the database clipboard into the new database set, by clicking theicon.
- Save all the selected databases in the clipboard by clicking on the

How to Copy Databases from the Database Clipboard to an Existing Database Set?
- In Mein Bereich->Meine Datenquellen select an existing folder in the Select set dropdown list at the top of the Meine Datenquellen window. The database clipboard appears in the right pane and the folder that you selected appears in the left pane.

Meine e-Zeitschriften
Meine e-Zeitschriften enables you to browse your personal e-Journal list and access individual e-Journals or obtain SFX services.
To display another page, click Next or Previous. You can set the number of results displayed per page as part of your preferences

Meine e-Zeitschriften - Kurztitelliste
Kurztitelliste displays the e-Journals in a table, one row for each e-Journal. Kurztitelliste provides the following options:

Suchhistorie / Alerts ansehen
Access to Suchhistorie is restricted to logged in users.
To access, click Mein Bereich in the menu and then Suchhistorie.
Suchhistorie enables you to store a search executed in a previous session, in order to run it in the future or to create an Alert
Note: If you have authenticated yourself, you can set your preferred view as part of your Einstellungen.
MetaLib stores all searches in the current session in Suche->Suchverlauf.
However, these searches are not saved at the end of a session. You can click on the
icon to copy a query to the Suchhistorie.
You can perform the following operations in this window:

Note: If you have authenticated yourself, you can set your preferred view as part of your Einstellungen.

Alerts ansehen
Only logged in users can use the Alerts ansehen feature.
To access, click Mein Bereich in the menu and then Suchhistorie.
An Alert is a query that searches the specified set of databases automatically, at an interval of your choice.
An Alert notifies you by email when new records that match the search criteria are added to the specified databases.
The email notification includes a link into MetaLib, which prompts you for a username and password, and then automatically relaunches the search so you can see the new records.
An Alert is created in Suchhistorie, when you click the
icon next to a search that you wish to define as an alert. Fill out the Add Alert window to define a new Alert.
You can click the
icon to delete the alert.

Adding and Editing an Alert
A number of fields must be filled in on the Alerts ansehen form. Mandatory fields are indicated with an asterisk.
- Enter an Alert name of your choice.
- Enter an e-mail address to which a notification should be sent; your e-mail address, as known to the system, is displayed by default.
- Indicate whether you wish to receive notification each time the Alert is run, even if no new items were found (Yes or No).
- Indicate how often the Alert should run.
- Lastly, select the databases in which to run the Alert.
- Click Save.

Einstellungen
Logged in users can define their own default preferences.
To access, click Mein Bereich and then Einstellungen in the menu.
Einstellungen enable you to personalize your MetaLib environment.
You have the option to make the following selections:
Select Portal: If your institution has defined several MetaLib portals for its users, you can select your preferred default portal. You can change this setting at any time.
Language: Applicable to multi-lingual sites, where you can select the user interface language of your choice.
Display of: Enables you to select the default view of the Database Suchergebnisse List and the search Suchergebnisse List.
No. of results per page: Enables you to determine the number of records displayed on each page.
